Luis Marcelino Gómez (Ciudad de Holguín, 1950). Writer, psychiatrist and Ph.D in Spanish. He practiced medicine in Angola, where he wrote the first African short story collection written by a Latin American in Africa. He worked as a professor of Spanish and Portuguese at various universities in the United States. At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he created and taught the first Course of Creative Writing in Spanish in that educational institution and is the Editor in Chief of the bilingual journal Aguas del Pozo/Waters of the Well dedicated only to the short story genre.
