Marvin L. Bittinger has been teaching math at the university level for more than thirty-eight years. Since 1968, he has been employed at Indiana University, Purdue University Indianapolis, and is now professor emeritus of mathematics education. Professor Bittinger has authored over 190 publications on topics ranging from basic mathematics to algebra and trigonometry to applied calculus. He received his BA in Mathematics from Manchester College and his PhD in mathematics education from Purdue University. Dr. Mervin "Mike" Laverne Keedy was born on a farm in western Nebraska. As a youth, he loved model airplanes and singing in school and church. He began college at Peru State Teachers College in Nebraska, but as WWII began he moved to Chicago and joined the Army Air Corps, where he was trained in meteorology and served as a forecaster for U.S. pilots in North Africa and Italy. After the war he earned a B.A. in Meteorology at the University of Chicago. Upon graduation he changed careers and taught high school math and science in Idaho where he learned to fly private airplanes.
