Johan Huizinga (Groningen, 7 december 1872 – De Steeg, 1 februari 1945) was een Nederlands historicus. Hij is de grondlegger van de Nederlandstalige cultuurgeschiedenis en mentaliteitsgeschiedenis. Verder was hij cultuurfilosoof en antropoloog. Zijn belangrijkste werken zijn *Herfsttij der Middeleeuwen* (1919), *Erasmus* (1924), *In de schaduwen van morgen* (1935) en *Homo ludens* (1938).
