Alexandra Day is the pseudonym for Sandra Louise Woodward Darling, the author and illustrator of a popular series of children's books that began with *Good Dog, Carl*. Her own dog, Toby, was the model for the first book. Four other family Rottweilers have been models for Carl in the 11 sequels that followed. Darling lives in Seattle with her family and dog Zubiaga.
