Charles Dowding

Charles Dowding (born 1959) is an English horticulturalist and author, described as the "guru of no-dig gardening". Based at Homeacres in Alhampton, Somerset, he has practised and advocated no-dig vegetable growing since 1983. Dowding has authored more than a dozen books on organic and no-dig methods, beginning with Organic Gardening: The Natural No-Dig Way (2007). His titles have been published by Green Books, Frances Lincoln, No Dig Garden Ltd (self-published) and Dorling Kindersley. He runs courses at Homeacres, publishes widely on YouTube and in gardening magazines, and was awarded the RHS Elizabeth Medal of Honour in 2024.
