Valerie Worth-Stylianou is a leading researcher on sixteenth- and seventeenth-century French literature and culture, and author of a series of best-selling works on French language learning and grammar. After completing her first degrees and doctorate at Oxford University, and spending a year lecturing on Renaissance French literature at the Université de Haute-Bretagne, she was a lecturer at King's College London (1990-9), and then held Chairs of French at Oxford Brookes University (1999-2006) and Exeter University (2007-9).
