This publication takes over from the *Model Shipwright* quarterly journal, which ran 144 issues over 35 years, and extends the format. Fully international, *Shipwright* will carry up to 12 major feature articles by leading writers on ship modeling and maritime history and culture. It will also include a regular news section, notes, and queries, extensive book reviews and review essays, an events calendar, a gallery, and a look at the year in maritime art.

John Langford Bowen, CEng, MRINA, is the author of several acclaimed titles for Conway Maritime Press, including *Miniature Merchant Ships* (1997), *A Ship Modelmaker's Manual* (1982), and *More Miniature Merchant Ships: The New Guide to Waterline Ship Modelling at 1/1200 Scale* (2003). Building waterline models has always been his favorite form of modeling and *More Miniature Merchant Ships* is a culmination of his continuing achievements in this area of ship modeling. John was deputy editor of Conway's quarterly journal *Model Shipwright* when it was launched in 1972 and has been its editor since 1974.
