Brian Shmaefsky

Dr. Brian Shmaefsky is currently a professor of biology at Lone Star College – Kingwood, near Houston, TX and coordinates the college's service learning program. He has been at the college since 1992. His research emphasis is in environmental physiology. Dr. Shmaefsky attended Brooklyn College of CUNY, Southern Illinois University, Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, and University of Illinois. He was a P.I. on multiple federal grants for the college system. As a professor, he has been involved in a variety of community service activities in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas since 1981 and is the author and presenter at numerous conferences on service learning.
