Guy Casaril was a French film director, screenwriter, and non-fiction writer. He began his career as an assistant director before making his directorial debut with L'Astragale (1968), an adaptation of Albertine Sarrazin's novel. Casaril directed several films, including Les Novices (1970), starring Brigitte Bardot and Annie Girardot, and Piaf (1974), a biopic about Édith Piaf. His films are noted for their narrative clarity and engagement with contemporary themes. Casaril's contributions to French cinema have left a lasting impact on the industry's artistic direction.
