
This is a walkthrough, hints, tips, and solutions book for the video game "Myst". There are puzzle by puzzle solutions to each of the games mysteries. It is written in a journal type narrative with the player being talked through the game. The story is that of a person that finds themselves alone on a mysterious island, and must solve puzzles to find out things about each location, and 'Age' that they visit. There are many gray-scale screenshots as well as original production black and white illustrations. Besides the narrtive version there is also a quick solutions and explanations section at the end of the book. The "Revised and Expanded" version of this book includes a new "Foreword", interviews with Rand and Robyn Miller, and a color map/fold out poster that is the size of six pages of the book, it is sealed by a perforation at the center of the book.

Rusel DeMaria is the pen-name of Russell Ehrman. He began writing computer related articles in the late 1980's and published a few books on computers, contributed to magazines such as 'Computer Play', 'GamePro' and 'Personal Computer Games', advancing to Editor for both of the latter two. In 1990 he was contacted by Ben Dominitz of Prima Publishing to produce a series of video game books. He became creative-director of the videogames books. Prima Games is a division of "Prima Publishing" which was a small publisher working out of a residential-style home office in Roseville, California. Prima Games began as a series of game tip books, when in 1990 its owner, Ben Dominitz, contracted with author Rusel DeMaria to create a video game strategy guide imprint, initially called "The Secrets of the Games". At the time, DeMaria was senior editor for PC Games magazine and on the staff of GamePro.
